Ayurveda classifies the human body into 3 categories or types depending on the kind of energies or doshas which are proportionately strongest in them. These include Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Vata represents the Air & Space elements, Pitta represents the Fire & Water elements and Kapha represents the Water & Earth elements.  An Ayurvedic Body is one that works in perfect equilibrium with all forces of nature. Once the body is healthy and balanced from the inside, the same reflects on the outside as well. And this is why, Ayurveda stresses on knowing your body type well so that you can work towards maintaining it well. Factors such as stress, unhealthy eating habits and insufficient lifestyle, all contribute in creating imbalances in our body. Such imbalances disturbs the natural processes of the body, leading to unwanted accumulation of toxins (ama).
